Richard Corkrey - Woodland Photographer
I love the woods and forests. I see Woodland Photography as an opportunity to develop something of a personal statement and show others my vision of the environment rather than simply where I have been. My love of trees has become an all-consuming project.
I have tried to capture the character, and soul of these trees and woodlands. In so doing I have tried to show a side of these places that others may only see in their memories or imagination. The ever-changing seasons also gives me a chance to show the many different faces our woodlands possess.
Most of my photography is done in the woods and commons of the South Downs. When possible I like to travel around the UK photographing the wonderful countryside, and various landscapes that make the British Isles so unique.
Born in St Helier in Jersey (Channel Islands), I spent my childhood in Dorset, and moved to West Sussex when I was ten. I now live in Midhurst in West Sussex.
A passionate photographer I have built up much experience, especially photographing the various areas of interest around the newly formed South Downs National Park. I am also the official photographer for the Southdowns Folk Festival, which is held annually in Bognor Regis.
